Absolutism to Revolution

If history is a series of connected events shaped by multiple cause and effect relationships, tying past to present then explain how Absolutism led to the Age of Revolution.

How is.................................................
 Lousi XIV
connected to.........  French Revolution?

This week we will continue to dive into the age of Absolutism and look at how it is connected to the Age of Revolution.  We will also explore the changes that were seen in science, thought, government and industry.

John Green

Is this guy funny or what?  I just love the way he is able to teach about history in such an entertaining manner.  He is smart and funny, two traits that I just love in people.

The last time that you watched him, he was explaining to us the importance of the Columbian Exchange.  In his lesson, he broke the Columbian Exchange into four significant effects.  If you will bring a list of those four effects to class before Friday, I will award you four bonus points on your unit exam.  Good Luck and enjoy John as you will be seeing a lot more of him.

Columbian Exchange

What is the Columbian Exchange?  Why should I care?  When did this become famous?  Who is responsible for making this exchange of goods, services and diseases happen/

All are questions that have been asked before. So, as we continue to learn about the Age of Discovery, I would like for you to read the following article written by some PhD students from Stanford, Harvard and Berkley.

Answer the questions from above and support using the article posted and receive ten bonus points.

Food for Thought

After we learned about why the Renaissance began in Itlay, what caused the downfall of feudalism, the Classical influence on Renaissance artists, thinkers and society, and how humanism changed the way social classes were arranged, I would like for you to be thinking about even more change.  While we saw great changes from the Middle Ages into the Renaissance we will continue to see changes.

Remember, History is a series of connected events with cuase and efffect relationships as well as patterns that develop over time.

So, today we move on and learn about another "changemaker". His name is Martin Luther and he was a revolutionary in that he was repsonsible for bringing about some much needed changes within the Catholic Church.

I'll leave you with this questions. What was the church doing that he felt needed changed?

Enjoy your day
